Dozer rough grading a mountain building site

About Ironwood

Built around
a better start.

Ironwood Site & Excavation started in Cleveland in 2011 with a used mini excavator, a truck, and a straightforward goal: make the ground work help the rest of the construction project.

From one machine to site packages

More of the ground work, handled together.

Founder Mason Rourke grew up in Bradley County and spent years working around utility excavation, drainage, grading, and heavy equipment before starting Ironwood.

As the company took on more builder work, Mason saw the same problem repeatedly. One homesite could require separate contractors for excavation, access, drainage, and grading. Ironwood expanded to handle more of that work together.

Foundation excavations became complete homesite packages. Residential projects led to shop pads, multi-lot work, and light-commercial sites. Today, the company has 14 employees, three field crews, multiple excavators and dozers, and in-house hauling.

The people behind the work

An operation with people behind it.

Good site work runs on clear communication as much as it runs on equipment. Here is who you will be working with.

Founder & Owner

Mason Rourke

Mason oversees estimating, major project planning, and operations. His approach is simple: plan the access, grades, and drainage first, then move dirt once whenever possible.

Operations Manager

Luke Rourke

Luke joined in 2017 and manages daily operations and crew coordination. He keeps schedules honest and makes sure every site is ready for its next phase.

How we work

Plan first. Move dirt with purpose.

Access, elevations, drainage, material placement, and the construction sequence all affect how efficiently a site can be prepared. That planning carries into the field — operators and foremen understand what the finished site is supposed to do, not just where the machine needs to dig.

Customers should know what is included, how the work is scheduled, and who to contact when conditions change. Our goal is a clear handoff to the next trade, with the site ready for its next phase.

Move dirt once

We sequence clearing, excavation, drainage, and grading so material is not moved twice. That saves time and money, and it protects the finished grades.

Clear communication

You know what is included, when it is scheduled, and who to call when conditions change. No surprises between the estimate and the hand-off.

Coordinated with your builder

We work with homeowners, builders, and general contractors so the site work lines up with the construction schedule that follows.

Have land. Have plans. Let's get it ready.
